Birds and Bees Phase Two     Emily Drew placed the car in park, then turned to her fifteen-year-old daughter, Darlene and said, “Don’t you just love the property in the fall. The colors scream out and it’s so peaceful with no one here.”

“Yeah, but the pond sure doesn’t look inviting with all that leafy crud on it. I sure don’t feel like swimming. So, are you going to tell me, now, why we drove all the way out here to talk.”

“Yes. This won’t be easy for me, Darlene. We have to have that talk all mothers dread and most avoid.”

“We already had that talk last year.”

“No, I’m talking about Birds and Bees Part II.”

“There’s a part two?”

“I’m afraid so, and it’s a doozie. Like I said, most mothers never get started. I was trying to put it off until your sixteenth birthday. When we bumped into each other in the hall after you came from the shower, I knew we needed to talk right away. You have truly blossomed in the past year. You’re now a fully fledged woman, and your breasts are almost as big as mine.

I think you’re ready for a C-cup.”

Darlene turned seven shades of red and said, “God, that was so embarrassing. I thought no one was home. I heard your car leave.”
